| A month ago, no one could have predicted how life for nearly every person on the planet would be affected by the COVID 19 Coronavirus. We all heard the rumors in February - what would happen if the virus spread past the borders of Asia? At that time, in our modern age of information overload, many would say it’s just one more potential crisis to fear. Unfortunately, the warning was quite real. As I write this article there are nearly 800,000 confirmed cases and more than 36,000 deaths world wide. |  |
With cities, states / provinces, and countries shutting down in an effort to slow the spread of the virus, many are questioning not only how long will this new way of life go on, but more immediately, how to go on with life amid the crisis? In the same way that each person is working to mitigate the possibility of transmission through social distancing and enhanced hygiene, corporations have similar responsibilities - implementing policies and practices that keep their employees safe while managing to keep the business running. Many have made the difficult decision or have been required by their local government to cease operations.
In our case, contracts related to work for the Department of Defense have required that we stay open. This has led to many meetings and conversations with our management and staff about how to operate in the safest manner possible. With our employees as our most valuable asset, the management team is working diligently to ensure that every employee’s health and safety concerns are the top priority.
In our more than 20 years of business, Micron Laser has weathered many challenging times: The dotcom boom and bust of the early 2000’s and the Great Recession of 2008-9 to name a few.
